Prepare your tools

Place all required tools on your work surface before opening the phone.

Included with your screen kit

  • Y-type (tri-point) screwdriver
  • Pentalobe screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Precision tweezers
  • Plastic spudger
  • 2 plastic opening picks — mark one at 3 mm before use
  • 5.0 kPa suction cup
  • SIM eject tool
  • Magnetic screw mat — included with OLED screen kits only

You will also need

  • A hair dryer with a heat setting
  • A small container for screws and small parts if your kit does not include a magnetic screw mat
Opening tool safety
  1. Start with the suction cup and a plastic triangular opening pick.
  2. Use the metal pry tool only if you cannot create an initial gap with the suction cup and plastic pick.
  3. Insert the metal tool only near the charging port and no deeper than 3 mm.
  4. Once a gap is created, remove the metal tool and continue with a plastic opening pick.
  5. If the adhesive is difficult to cut, stop and reheat the edge. Do not force any tool deeper into the phone.

Troubleshooting

What problem do you see?

Stop. Power off before reopening the phone.

Choose the function that failed

Post-installation issues may be caused by an incomplete connection, an incorrectly positioned transferred component, or an obstruction—not necessarily a defective screen.
