A hair dryer with a heat setting
A small container for screws and small parts
Prevent short circuits and static damage
Use plastic tools whenever possible.
Use a metal tool only if you cannot create an initial gap with the suction cup and plastic opening pick.
Insert the metal tool only at the outer screen edge and no deeper than 3 mm.
Once a gap is created, remove the metal tool and continue with a plastic opening pick.
Avoid using metal tools near battery contacts, connectors, flex cables, or the logic board.
If adhesive is difficult to cut, stop and reheat the edge. Do not force any tool deeper into the iPad.

Warning
Skip any Home Button replacement step shown in the video or illustrated guide. This screen already includes a pre-installed Home Button. Do not remove or reinstall it unless you are a professional repair technician, because doing so may damage the Home Button flex cable or screen assembly.

Check power response

Charge the iPad for 5 minutes.

Check whether the screen lights up, shows the Apple logo, makes a sound, or responds when connected to a charger.
If the iPad still does not respond, disconnect the battery first, then check whether the battery connector is correctly seated.
Reconnect the battery, power on the iPad, and test again.

Check the touch screen connection
While the battery is connected, keep all internal connectors connected.Do not disconnect, reconnect, or handle any internal connector.
Power off the iPad and confirm the battery is below 25%, then disconnect the battery.
Disconnect the touch screen cable. This is also called the digitizer cable.
Inspect the touch screen cable, connector, and matching connection points for visible damage, bends, dust, debris, missing pins, or bent pins.
If you see dust or debris, lightly moisten a clean cotton swab with 90% or higher isopropyl alcohol.
Gently wipe the accessible touch screen connector surfaces and the matching connection points, then wait until completely dry.
Reseat the touch screen cable and make sure it is fully connected. You should hear a click when the connector is properly seated.
Gently place the LCD and touch screen back in the correct position without pressing hard. Make sure the LCD connector, touch screen cable, and flex cables are not bent, folded, pinched, or pulled. Check that there are no screws, loose parts, adhesive pieces, dust, debris, or other foreign objects under the LCD, touch screen, or connector area that could block the screen or press against it.
Reconnect the battery, power on the iPad, and test touch before removing the double-sided adhesive backing or applying adhesive.

Check the Home button fit
Power off the iPad and confirm the battery is below 25%, then disconnect the battery.
Remove the iPad LCD, disconnect the Home button connector, then remove the touch screen.
Use a heating tool to warm the Home button bracket area on the screen, then carefully remove the bracket after the adhesive softens.
Check whether the metal contact on the Home button is correctly aligned with the contact point on the Home button bracket.
Realign the Home button metal contact with the bracket contact point, then secure the bracket with glue or double-sided adhesive.
Before reinstalling the touch screen, test whether the Home button can be pressed normally.
Reinstall the touch screen and iPad LCD, then gently place the screen back in the correct position.
Test whether the Home button presses normally and whether the return function works.
After the Home button test passes, repeat the other screen function tests. Remove the double-sided adhesive backing and finish installation only after all tests pass.

Check the camera openings
Carefully lift the touch screen from one side. Support the connector side against a stable object to avoid damaging the touch screen connector.
Inspect the inside camera opening on the touch screen. Check for dust, foreign material, or whether the opening is blocked because the camera bracket has shifted out of position.
